Twin Oaks Convalescent Center
This intermediate and skilled long term care facility was purchased by the System in 1990 and attached to the hospital in 1992. It consistently receives high acclaim from our public and is regarded as one of the best facilities in South Georgia. Twin Oaks has an excellent activities program, a very active Family Council and Resident Council, and is a leader in the State in the area of resident safety.
Annual activities of the residents include the July 4th parade and the Twin Oaks Beauty Pageant, both extremely popular with Bacon Countians and well supported by local civic clubs.
Twin Oaks' front door faces the playground of our ABC Child Development Center. Daily, residents can sit on the front porch and watch the children play, or can receive daily visits from children several times per day. In addition, residents are encouraged to visit the ABC Center and read to the children, or participate in the yearly Easter Egg Hunt.
The Family Council, an organized group of residents' family members, has renovated the resident's courtyard in 2003. Renovations included a reconstruction of a 500 SF recreation building and extensive irrigation and landscaping and installation of walkways, birdhouses, seating, swings and fountain.
